Example: preparing a square profile photo
Suppose an image is 1600 × 1200 pixels and the person is centered. You might enter X 200, Y 0, Width 1200, and Height 1200. That produces a square crop without stretching the photo. If the subject is off-centre, adjust X first until the preview contains the important area.
Crop with the finished use in mind
A good crop is not simply a smaller image. It decides what the viewer notices first. Before entering numbers, ask where the picture will appear: a profile image often needs a square frame, a marketplace listing may need the item centered, and a blog banner needs empty space for a heading. That intended use gives you a reason for every edge you remove.
Work from the subject outward
Start by finding the part that must not be cut off: a face, product label, signature, receipt total, or logo. Leave a little breathing room around it rather than placing it against the edge. Keep a copy before you replace the original

The crop is processed in your browser. This tool does not restore missing detail, remove a background, or choose the best composition automatically. Cropping permanently excludes parts of the downloaded copy, so keep the original image until the new file has been checked.
